Notice No. 1 of 2024 published by the Malta Ports and Yachting Directorate on the 4.3.2024 removes the requirement for visiting commercial yachts to have the CVC and CVOL in place for purposes of chartering in Maltese waters, thereby encouraging such visiting yachts to commence charters in Maltese waters and, where applicable, benefit from the reduced VAT rate (12%) applicable to a charter or charters of a yacht to the same person totalling not more than 5 weeks (as per guidelines issued by the Malta Tax and Customs Administration):https://cfr.gov.mt/en/inlandrevenue/legal-technical/Documents/Guidelines%20-%2012%20percent%20VAT%20on%20pleasure%20boats.pdf
